William Green Hope papers, circa 1960-1985.

The majority of the William Green Hope Papers cover his years at the University of Chattanooga, 1932-1936. William Green Hope (Billy Hope) emphasized French as a foreign language, which led to his career for the rest of his life. His papers give good examples of the type of work expected of students at UC during those years, and he took courses from some of the leading faculty of the University: Edwin Lindsey, Maxwell Smith, Terrell Tatum, and Culver Smith. There is additional post UC material, including graduate school work from the University of Wisconsin, some teaching material from UC and Middle Georgia College, and some playbills and theater programs.
